On Wednesday afternoon, your Freshman White Team (2-0) returned home to Spartan Stadium and grinded out a 20–6 victory over the Hastings Bears.

After a nice opening kickoff return by Nick Riopelle (#49), the Spartans used an outstanding offensive line performance led by Torres (#72), Charanza (#70), Hibbetts (#54), Turner (#74) and Valdez (#71) to move the ball. QB Andy Navarro (#3) ran on several, designed QB keepers and took advantage of wide runs to gain several first downs. After an offsides penalty against Hastings resulted in a 4th down and short, Navarro (#3) found Joey Mundwiller (#34) open down the middle of the field, resulting in the first touchdown of the game. Navarro (#3) with Hayden Thomas (#17) holding, successfully converted the point after.

The defense started the 2nd quarter with a bang when Mundwiller (#34) and Riopelle (#49) combined for three consecutive tackles for loss resulting in a turnover on downs back to the Stratford offense. Two plays later, Navarro (#3) hit Jamiel Wright (#83) on a 25-yard pass play down to the six-yard line. Navarro (#3) on the next play, faked the inside handoff and hustled into the end zone, scoring a touchdown. An illegal participation penalty led to a miss on the try after; SHS 13, Hastings 0. Hastings executed on their next drive when an inside hand-off led to a sixty-yard dash to the end zone. Joshua Siems (#44) stuffed the run attempt on the point after.  holding the score to 13–6. The Spartan offense threatened to score right before the half, but a questionable no-call in the endzone combined with a missed field goal attempt kept the Spartans leading 13–6 at halftime.

A welcomed shade from the stands slowly made its way across the field when the Spartans kicked off to start the third quarter. Robert Black (#26) got the defense going with a nice tackle, setting up third and long. Noel Rodriquez (#40) turned in the hit of the game when he tackled for loss the Bears runningback on a sweep. Not to be outdone, Rodriquez (#40) on the very next play made another great tackle on 4th down, forcing the ball back over to the Spartan offense. After a turnover on downs back to Hastings, the defense went to work. Siems (#44) and Wyatt Throckmorton (#85) made great tackles on back-to-back plays. The very next play, Hastings fumbled the ball back to the Spartans. Kevionne Peoples (#29) took a hand-off wide and scored the third touchdown of the game for the Spartans.

The 4th quarter continued the defensive dominance. Brennan McKnight (#43) and Rodriguez (#40) stopped the Bears' rushing attack, again leading to another turnover on downs. Several long runs by Navarro (#3), Jefferson Bonilla (#39) and Riopelle (#49) allowed the clock to keep running. On the final play of the game, Navarro (#3) made a nice run down to the three-yard line, ensuring a home-team victory. Many thanks to the great support including the fans and cheerleaders in witnessing the 20-6 Spartan victory.
