What an intense game we had in Tomball on another scorching day! Our Stratford Spartans JV White team showed exceptional energy and athleticism during their first away game of the 2023 season.

The first quarter kicked off with both teams battling hard, resulting in a scoreless quarter. The sun was blazing, but our Spartans kept their cool.

In the second quarter, Tomball managed to put 8 points on the board early, but that only fueled our team's fire. Our defense was fired up and held their ground, pushing back against Tomball's offense, led by some great open field tackling by cornerback Will Tacker.

Then, a pivotal moment occurred when Matthew Bednar blocked a punt and Aiden Wheeler scooped up the ball and sprinted to the end zone for a touchdown! Although the 2-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, the energy on the field was electric.

But that wasn't all – the momentum continued as Jack McAfee intercepted a pass and took it to the house for another defensive touchdown for our Spartans. With a successful 2-point conversion, the score stood at 14-8 in favor of Stratford.

Just as the excitement was reaching its peak and players returned from halftime, Mother Nature decided to add her own twist to the game. A lightning delay paused the action, and eventually, the game was called off.

Despite the interruption, our Spartans emerged victorious with a final score of 14-8. Their determination and Spartan pride were evident throughout the game, making us all proud to be part of the Stratford football family.

Unfortunately the JV Green game was cancelled due to lightning and will hopefully be made up during the bye week. Stay tuned for more thrilling games and incredible moments as the season unfolds. Go Spartans!
