Junior Niamh Collins secured a spot on the podium at the Region 3 meet over the weekend after finishing 3rd place in the 800 m run. Niamh entered the race as the defending Regional Champion, and narrowly missed a return trip to state by less than a second. On a very windy day, Niamh’s time of 2:15.01 was just behind the second place time of 2:14.57 and first place time of 2:14.31.

Four Stratford boys, all underclassmen, finished top-10 in their respective events:

Kenneth Owen (soph) - 7th High Jump (6-2)

Ben Pearce (soph) - 8th 1600 m (PR of 4:25.4)

Daylan Rushing (junior) - 9th 800 m (1:59.52)

That’s a wrap on the 2023 Track & Field season. Both our Boys and Girls Varsity Teams were district runners-up and third place in Area, and many individuals (including freshmen and JV) performed at a high level throughout the season. A large number of our top Varsity participants will return next year, and the future looks bright with our younger athletes.

We will honor our seniors and all Track & Field participants at our upcoming banquet on May 8th.
