JV Baseball Beats, Ties Rival Memorial

The Spartans won and tied their games at Memorial this week, keeping on track for a District Championship

Stratford 10 - Memorial 3:

Stratford scored 2 runs in the first inning. Rylan Reichenau led off with a single and later scored on an error, and Stratford added another after three walks. Stratford added two more in the 2nd:  Ranes Denman doubled and was driven in by a triple by Reichenau, who then scored on a Travis Jones ground-out. The Spartans blew the game open in the 3rd. Ford Givens was hit by a pitch, and then Stratford drew four straight walks to add two runs. With the bases still loaded, Bo Harrison hit a Grand Slam homer to left field, bringing the run total to 10! Ford Givens pitched all three innings for the Spartans, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits and 5 walks with 6 strikeouts.

Stratford 5 - Memorial 5:

Rylan Reichenau and Eric Ferworn led off the game with hits and both scored on a Cooper Kemp double. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Kemp scored on a Bo Harrison sacrifice fly. To finish the scoring in the first, Cooper Harrison walked and scored on a Ford Givens double. Memorial answered with 5 in the bottom of the first. Stratford tied the game on a hit batter and three walks in the third to conclude the scoring. Cooper Kemp pitched four innings, giving up 5 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 7.

The JV Spartans finish their season this Wednesday with a home double-header against Jersey Village.
