Sophomore Baseball - March 29

The Spartans traveled to Northbrook last week for another District doubleheader matchup and came away with 2 dominant wins to extend their shutout streak to 4 games in a row. Luke Tamez and Brandon Phillips combined for a no-hitter in the first game, with 7 total K’s, as Stratford took down the Raiders 15-0. The offense had 9 total hits led by Zach Christie (triple, 4 RBI’s) and Dylan Ward, who ripped a double down the left-field line.

The Spartans would stay hot in the nightcap, led by Will Tacker, who hit a bases-clearing triple in the second inning to break the game wide open. Lucas Dominguez nearly left the yard with a missile off the left-field wall and would also steal 2 bases to help Stratford to another dominant 15-0 win. Carsten Vasut was impressive on the mound with 5 K’s in 2 IP, and would combine with Levi Lease (2 K’s) and Grayson Granda (2 K’s) for another no-hit shutout. The Spartan sophomore team improved to 7-3-2 (4-1-1 in District) and will take on Spring Woods at the Backyard on Wednesday.
