vs. Jersey Village - (Loss 4-6)

The Spartans stayed in it until the end, but Jersey Village pulled away late in a 6-4 District loss on Tuesday. In the first inning, Adrianna Estrada singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run to get the offense started. The game was tied at 2 with Jersey Village batting in the top of the 5th when they scored on a sacrifice fly. Both teams collected 6 hits, Jersey Village was able to stack those hits in two different innings, while the Spartans unfortunately had their hits spread out across multiple innings. Gwyn Katterhenry was on the mound for Stratford. The lefty threw a complete 7-inning game, allowing 6 hits and 4 earned runs while striking out 4. The Spartans tried to rally all the way to the end, when Ava Esparza successfully pinch-hit, but were unable to convert that to any runs in the last inning.

vs. Cy-Fair - (Loss 0-9)

It was a very rough night for our Spartans who lost to Cy Fair on Friday. The Bobcats improved their record to 8-0 after this game. The Spartans fell behind early and couldn’t come back. The Bobcats brought a high-powered offense, as well as a solid defense. Gwyn Katterhenry started the game for the Spartans, throwing 2.1 innings and taking the loss. Hayden Houser threw 3.2 innings in relief. The Bobcats racked up 12 hits, compared to 4 by our Spartans, who struggled to get their offense going. Carolyn Briggs had a great night at the plate, going 2 for 3.
