STRATFORD TOPS JERSEY VILLAGE 8-2

Spartans Take Early Lead and Build On

On Tuesday, the Spartans hosted the Jersey Village Falcons. The Spartans had the bats out early, producing three runs in the first inning scored by Sophie DonnelDarcy Broaddus, and Keely MeeksMeeks drove in the first run with a single to left, and Emma Adisa produced the other two with a single to right.

This would be all the scoring Stratford needed, as Meeks produced a 4-strikeout one hitter, allowing two unearned runs.

The Spartans added three runs in the second inning, scored by Mariah EstradaDonnel, and Broaddus, with Ava Esparza driving in Broaddus on a sacrifice fly, and two more in the third, scored by Mia Hutchison and Allie Richardson, with Laura de la Rosa batting in Hutchison’s run.

STRATFORD FALLS TO CY FAIR 3-2

Comeback Stalls as Bobcats Complete Season Sweep

The first meeting between Stratford and Cy Fair was a 1-0 pitchers’ duel; the second was another low-scoring affair featuring pitching and defense. This result was another 1-run win by the Bobcats, who swept the season series against the Spartans despite only outscoring them 5-3 over two games.

Sophie DonnelCaroline Chamberlain, and Emma Adisa had hits for the Spartans. Donnel and Mia Hutchison scored, driven in by Chamberlain and Shayleigh Thomas.

Laura de la Rosa came to bat with runners on base as time was close to expiring and drove a ball deep-down the line in right field. However, it hung up just long enough for the outfielder to make the catch.

This week the Spartans host Cy Creek on Tuesday April 4th and play at Northbrook on Thursday April 6th. We shall report.
