The Varsity Men’s Golf Team had a terrific performance in the District 17 Tournament on March 29th and 30th at Cypress Lakes. Andrew Ferworn, Ben Potter, Caleb Lumpkin, Andrew Molina, and Tyler Davis represented Stratford on the first team. Chris Blaine, Luke Fichtner, Luke Pine, Noah Bahrami, and Barton Smith made up the Stratford II squad; and Cade Diamond, Caden DiPaolo, and Bennett Garza competed as individuals.

With just two teams moving on to Regionals, Stratford had to find a way to beat either Memorial or Cy Creek (who field a roster of three Division I golfers). Stratford got off to a strong start, shooting 297 and taking a 3-shot lead over Cy Creek and 4-shot lead over Memorial. On the second day, the Spartans pulled away, shooting a combined score of 1 under 287, led by Caleb Lumpkin's 68. Stratford’s two-day total of 584 bested Memorial by 13 and Cy Creek by 14, sending the Spartans onto Regionals!

Andrew Ferworn shot 67, 71 to win the individual side of the Tournament, and Chris Blaine played well with a pair of 73s that qualified him to move on as an individual as well.

The Regional Tournament will take place at Eagle Pointe on April 19th and 20th. The top-three teams in that event, and the top-three individuals not on a qualifying team, move on to the State Tournament in Austin in May.
