vs. Cy Ridge Rams - Win (7-2)

The Spartans nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-2 District victory over Cy Ridge on Tuesday. The Spartans came alive after they had 4 scoreless innings to rack up 5 runs in the 5th inning with singles by Aashna Kapoor, Marina Taveras, Gwyn Katterhenry, and Allison Hibbetts, combined with sacrifices by Adrianna Estrada and Isabela Sanchez. The Spartans added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to seal the deal with a double by Taveras and a sacrifice fly to center by Estrada. Senior Hayden Houser pitched a gem, lasting 6 innings, allowing only 1 earned run while racking up a season high 11 Ks! Katterhenry closed the game, pitching 1 inning in relief, striking out 2.

vs. Memorial - Loss (5-14)

It was a tough night for our Spartans who lost to Memorial on Friday. The Mustangs racked up 12 hits on the night. They were able to take hits combined with some errors and were able to put 14 runs up on the scoreboard, while Stratford struggled to stack hits together. It was a rough night for our pitchers, who were facing the rival home crowd and a very tight strike zone. Hayden Houser started the game for the Spartans, throwing 2 innings, and Gwyn Katterhenry threw 4 innings in relief. Isabela Sanchez had a great night at the plate, going 2 for 4.
