JV Baseball Doubly Victorious in Two Games Against Cy Fair

On Monday, March 13th the JV Spartans hosted Cy Fair for their first District Games

Game 1: Spartans 6 Cy Fair 5

In the first inning, Rylan Reichenau led off with a double. Later, Luke Zilafro brought Reichenau in a single, and Gavin Mundwiller scored on a following error. Stratford scored 3 more in the third inning on RBI singles by Ethan Burk and Jackson Golden. Cy Fair scored one in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning to tie the game. Mac Greene led off the bottom of the fifth inning and came around to score on a walk-off double by Rylan Reichenau, giving the Spartans an exciting 6-5 victory. Ford Givens started and pitched 4.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts. Christian Ramirez came in to record the final two outs.

Game 2: Spartans 3 Cy Fair 2

Stratford scored 2 in the first inning in a number of walks and a Bo Harrison single. Cy Fair was only able to score single runs in the third and fifth innings as Cooper Kemp had a strong performance on the mound; striking out 10 over four innings, while yielding just 3 hits and 3 walks. Caden Cooper pitched the top of the fifth inning, striking out one. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Eric Ferworn reached first to lead off the inning, and following two walks, came around to score on a steal of home on a wild pitch for the Spartans to win 3-2.

District play continues with an away game on Wednesday, March 22 at Cy Creek.
