vs. Bridgeland

The 2023 SHS JV baseball team opened up the season with a trip to Bridgeland on Monday. The Spartans controlled the majority of the game but could not hang to a lead late and fell 7-6.

vs. Foster

Thursday the Spartans traveled to Foster High School as participants in the LCISD tournament. Cinco Ranch was the first opponent and once again the Spartans had a little misfortune late and lost 5-3.

Friday evening the Spartans traveled to Foster once again and collected their first win of the season in impressive fashion, 8-2. Pitching, which is the strength of our program was solid with Caden Cooper, Alexander Espino, and Cooper Kemp limiting the Falcons to two runs on four hits through six innings. Leading hitters in the game were Luke Zilafro and Cooper Kemp with two hits apiece,  while Bo Harrison, Jackson Golden, Gavin Mundwiller, Rylan Reichanau, and Mac Greene all collected a hit apiece.

vs. Katy Taylor

In Saturday’s action the Spartans traveled to George Ranch HS to face the Katy Taylor Mustangs in the first game of a doubleheader. Ford Givens pitched like an ace and Walker Sage pitched out of a jam to preserve a 2-2 tie.

vs. Ridgeland

The afternoon’s exciting action concluded with an impressive win over one of the state’s top programs in Ridge Point, 5-2. Walker Sage and Christian Ramirez held the Panthers to two runs on three hits. Leading hitters in the game were Bo Harrison and Travis Jones with two hits apiece, while Luke Zilafro, Ranes Denman, Rylan Reichanau, and Cooper Kemp all collected a hit apiece.

The Spartans are off this week from tournament play and will look to stay sharp in practice and build on a 2-2-1 record.
