Track & Field Has Great Showing at KISD Bubba Fife Relays

The Varsity Boys and Girls Track Teams traveled to Paetow High School in Katy on Saturday for the Katy ISD Bubba Fife Relays. Sixteen high schools from the Katy, Cy Fair, Spring Branch, and College Station School Districts (plus Strake Jesuit) had athletes participating, and the event featured many of the top runners, throwers, and jumpers from across the Houston area and the entire state.

NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCES - GIRLS

  • Avery Lucksinger was 5th place in the triple jump with a personal best (PB) of 35-9 3/4.
  • Addison Lanning took 6th place in Shot Put with a throw of 34-3 1/2.
  • Niamh Collins was 4th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:17, Allie Weinhardt was 5th in 5:21, and Siena Yoder was 11th with a PB of 5:32.
  • Maggie Pearce was 7th in the 3200 while running 12:08,  and Anastasia Sciretti was 10th in 12:24.
  • Our 4000 meter Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team of Allie WeinhardtLiza HeitmannSiena Yoder, and Niamh Collins captured 4th place in a time of 13:03. The four legs of a DMR are 1200 meters, 400, 800, 1600, in that order.

 

NOTEWORTHY PERFORMANCES - BOYS

  • Sophomore Kenneth Owens was the only Spartan athlete to earn a spot on the podium on the day after clearing 6-4 (PB) in the High Jump and finishing 2nd place overall.
  • Nate Grant was 5th in the Long Jump with a a jump of 21-7,  and Luke Rives was 8th at 21-1.
  • Nate and Luke also performed well in the 100 meter dash,  with Nate grabbing 8th place with a PB of 11.16 and Luke earning 10th in 11.21.
  • Nykko McMillan took 13th in the 300 meter hurdles with a PB of 42.06.
  • Jona Morford was 7th in the 3200 with a PB of 9:53.

  • Boys 4000 meter Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team of Daylan RushingMaddox DurnellDay’vonne Singleton, and Ben Pearce finished 4th place with a time of 10:38.72. This was the fourth fastest Stratford boys DMR over at least the last 14 years and was only 8 seconds over the school record set in 2017.

  • Boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay of Daylan RushingJustin KaimannBen Pearce, and Day’vonne Singleton were 4th place in a time of 8:12.

MEET SCHEDULE THIS WEEK - Sub-Varsity will be at Memorial High School on Thursday afternoon, March 2, and Varsity will compete at the Walter Heintschel Relays at Crump Stadium (Alief ISD) on Saturday, March 4.
