vs. Cy Fair (Loss 6-10)

The Lady Spartans hosted Cy Fair in their first District game of the season last Tuesday. They fought hard and tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the 7th inning with back-to-back doubles by Marina Taveras and Gwyn Katterhenry, followed by a single by Adrianna Estrada and a HOMERUN by Allison Hibbetts. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late, and despite out-hitting (11-8) and scoring more earned runs than the Bobcats, they couldn’t overcome the deficit early in the game. Aashna Kapoor started the game on the mound, with Katterhenry and Hayden Houser entering the game in relief.

SBISD Tournament

The Lady Spartans hosted the SBISD Softball Tournament, playing a total of 4 games between Thursday – Saturday, the Spartans went 3-1 in the tournament against some tough competition.

vs. Jordan (Loss 3-4)

The Spartans fought back after being down by 4 runs in the second inning, with the comeback just falling short and the tying run being thrown out at the plate. Hayden Houser pitched a full 5 innings, and despite the Spartans scoring more earned runs than Jordan, they did not get the win.

vs. Baytown Sterling (Win 12-0)

The Lady Spartans run-ruled Baytown Sterling in a quick 3 innings. Baytown struggled with pitching, and were unable to produce any runs as Katterhenry struck out 8 of 11 batters.

vs. Katy Taylor (Win 6-1)

The Lady Spartans got themselves a little payback from an earlier preseason scrimmage loss; Taveras and Hibbetts once again led the offense going 3 for 4 and 2 for 3, respectively. Katterhenry threw a complete game, 7 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 run while striking out 8.

vs. Morton Ranch (Win 9-8)

Estrada walked it off on her first pitch in the bottom of the 8th, earning the win for the Spartans in ITB extra innings! Houser pitched a gem, throwing a full 7 innings only allowing 1 earned run, while racking up 10 strikeouts!! Katterhenry threw one inning in relief to close out the game.
