vs. Cy-Creek Cougars

Our JV-B boys shut out their first District game at home against Cy-Creek on Friday, January 27th. Only 5 minutes into the game, Fardin Ansari took a great shot on goal but just missed. This would spur him on to continue taking shots and led him to score 3 goals in the game.

At minute 18:00 on the clock Stratford got their first goal with a cross from Bernardo Sanchez to Fardin Ansari. SHS 1- Cy-Creek 0.

The boys came out ready to win and it showed. Goyo Hijosa Larriba was playing with great defensive pressure, and Carson Rushing had a great run driving the ball with a dribble from half field. Brody Bellamy had a great shot from the left side but just missed goal. Bernardo Sanchez had a shot on goal at close range, but it was saved. Our Spartans were playing with intensity and keeping the Cy-Creek keeper busy. 1st half ended 1-0 Stratford.

2nd half began with Goyo Hijosa-Larriba taking a shot on target just 5 minutes in. At 22:00 minutes on the clock, Stratford scored their 2nd goal, which was misplayed by Cy-Creek defense and stolen by our boys. The goal was made by Fardin Ansari, with a first-touch shot and slid under the goalie's legs. SHS 2 - Cy-Creek 0. With just 8 minutes left in the game, Fardin Ansari was fouled just outside the box. He took the free kick with a powerful, whipping shot past the diving keeper to complete his hat trick. SHS 3 - Cy-Creek 0. Stratford kept up their intensity, and with 7 minutes left Goyo Hijosa-Larriba made a breakaway with no one to beat but the keeper, but the shot went wide right. Christian Murillo took a shot at the end of the game, but it was slightly off target. The boys played hard and showed how well they work as a team.

The final score of the game was Stratford Spartans 3 - Cy-Creek Cougars 0.
