On Saturday, January 21st, the JV swimmers headed over to the Cy-Fair ISD Nat ready to go. Not only did we have several 1st place and top 3 finishes, but everyone on the team swam a personal best. Some highlights of the meet included:

Lilli Oteiza’s “perfect meet” (1st place in all events swam): 1st place 200 yard medley relay (fly, 28.19), 1st place in the 50 free by 1.32 seconds! (26.00), 1st place in the 100 fly by almost 5 seconds! (1:04.95), and 1st place in the 200 free relay (1st swimmer with a regulation start [which is slower than a relay start], 26.44).

Brock Hunter’s 1st place in the 50 free (23.51) and 1st place in the 100 breast by almost 4 seconds! (1:05.83)

Emmie Hanvey’s 1st place in the 100 free by close to 2 seconds! (58.24)

Sam Brook’s 1st place in the 100 free (55.01)

Bella Smith’s 1st place in the 100 breast (1:21.49)

Girls 200 medley relay 1st place finish (2:02.05, slightly more than 7 seconds ahead of 2nd!) with Elizabeth Conner (back, 31.49), B. Smith (breast, 35.32), Oteiza (fly, 28.19), and Hanvey (free, 27.05)

Girls 200 free relay 1st place finish (1:49.37) with Oteiza (26.44), Conner (26.66), Leah Claire Nall (29.74), and Hanvey (26.53)

Boys 200 free relay 1st place finish (1:41.51) with Brooks (25.94), Charles Goodman (24.56), Ben Bednar (27.29), and Hunter (23.72)

Boys 200 medley relay 3rd place finish (1:56.40) with Brooks (back, 29.75), Hunter (breast, 29.74), Diego Oliver (fly, 30.46), and Charlie Moore (free, 26.45)

The Varsity District 17-6A Dive Meet will take place on Thursday, January 26th at the Cy-Fair ISD Nat. The Varsity District 17-6A Swim Meet will take place at the same pool on Friday, January 27th at 9:30 am. The 6 highest-scoring divers and the top 6 swimmers in each event will compete at Regionals on February 3rd and 4th. Wish us luck!
