Varsity vs. Deer Park

The Varsity Boys followed the JV Boys and the Varsity Girls into the water to take on Deer Park in what would prove to be a dominant performance. Bryce Oliphant got the fireworks started with a rebound goal 2 minutes into the game and the Spartans rolled from there. Kyle Brown added a goal and then Bryce scored his second goal with 2:38 to go. Luke Barber got into the scoring column with the final goal of the period. Luke put another one in the net to start the second period, and then Bryce added his third goal of the game before Deer Park finally got on the board. Lowell Moss added the final goal as the Spartans cruised to an 8-1 halftime lead. The third quarter was more of a defensive battle as the Spartans got a goal from Kyle Brown while giving up a goal to Deer Park. In the final period, Kyle Brown and Luke Barber each added one more goal apiece, while the defense only allowed a single goal to wrap up an 11-3 victory for the boys.

Junior Varsity vs. Deer Park

The Boys hosted Deer Park for their final pre-district games of the season on Tuesday, August 30. The Junior Varsity took the pool first and jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter behind 2 goals from Ian Ong and a goal from Ali Ezzi. Ricky Conticello got a high scoring second period going and extended the lead to 5 – 0 with two more goals in the first two minutes of the second period. Deer Park would finally get on the board, and then Ali Ezzi answered with his second goal of the game to push the Spartans up 6-1. Deer Park would add another score that was answered by Brock Hunter for Stratford, and then Deer Park closed out the first half scoring with one more goal to cut the deficit to 7-3. Deer Park started to find their stride a little more in the 3rd period outscoring Stratford 3-2. Ali and Brock each added another goal for the Spartans. The 4th period was very intense as Deer Park charged out with 3 goals to tie the game at 9. The teams would then trade 2 goals each (Ian Ong and Ricky Conticello for Stratford) to tie the game at 11 heading into the final :30 seconds. Deer Park turned the ball over with 14 second and the Spartans went on the offensive. After working the ball around the perimeter, it ended up in Ricky’s hands as time was about to expire and he let fly the final shot which found the back of the net and gave the Spartans a hard fought 12-11 victory.
