Varsity started off the week traveling to Kingwood. Completing a program sweep after wins by Freshman A and JV, Varsity finished off Kingwood in straight sets 25-16, 25-23, 25-15. Only one of the sets was close, and the overall outcome never seemed in doubt. The win avenged a straight set Spartan loss to Kingwood last year, and gave the program a huge boost of momentum going into the District portion of the season.

The team opened up District play Friday in a home matchup against defending District champion Cy Fair. Cy Fair swept both matchups against Stratford last year in close contests. This time around, the Spartans jumped out to an early lead and prevailed in a convincing 3-1 set victory. Stratford nation turned out in force, and a boisterous Spartan crowd kept the energy up for the whole match.

One additional note from last week’s Clear Creek ISD Tournament. Our own Skylar George was named to the All-Tournament team. This represents the second tournament this year she has been named to an all-tournament team. What a season so far! Congrats Skylar!

The varsity team wants to congratulate our JV team for WINNING the Katy/Cy Fair Tournament this past weekend. The girls went 6-0 to win the tourney, improved to 16-0 on the season, and are also 1-0 in district right now! The future is bright!

This coming week, Varsity travels to Cy Creek on Tuesday, then hosts Northbrook on Friday for Teacher Appreciation Night. Join us for this celebration of teachers who inspire us to be our best.
