It was a busy week for Freshman A team as we had 7 matches this week!

Tuesday, we traveled to Kingwood High School and dominated the competition. The girls showed up and played the game well!

Thursday, we started the Cy-Fair tournament at Seven Lakes High School. This sub-varsity tournament took place in schools all over Houston. The first game, well, everyone struggled. There were some great serves, blocks, and some kills however, we fell to the Seven Lakes High School team. However, in the second match of the evening, our Lady Spartans gathered themselves and beat Cy-Springs putting us in the Silver Bracket for Saturday.

In the meantime, our first district match was on Friday against Cy-Fair. Jocelyn Mucino was our most consistent player with strong hits, digs, and serves. We had great blocks from Saige Jurek and Elizabeth Swoboda. The setters, Addison Teixiera and Caroline White hustled all over the court hunting down the opportunity to set up our hitters. Maddy Hoang worked hard passing and digging. Lauren Dunwoody persevered never giving up going for every ball in the back row or on the front! Madison Gallerano consistently passed and hit helping keep the dream alive. Alyssa Aranzeta, Maddy Hoang, and Caroline Chamberlain moved swiftly along the back row digging and passing up the ball. However, we lost to Cy-Fair’s consistent play.

Saturday, Freshman A played in the silver bracket with the first game against Mayde Creek, winning 25-17 in the first set and 25-20 in the second. Maddy Hoang and Caroline Chamberlain both served well to help us achieve the win! In match 2 against Thompkins Caroline White had outstanding hitting and setting. As usual, Caroline Chamberlain killed it on serving. As a team we had great ball placement and court awareness. Throughout there were lots of good hits and coverage on the court and the Spartans came together to fight! Sadly, we lost in 3 sets, 25-10, 15-25, and 24-26…Tough Loss!!

The girls are coming together beautifully as a team. Watch out!
