Stratford traveled to Lamar High School this past Tuesday to face off against the Lamar Texans. The JV Boys were the first in the water and wasted no time scoring 42 seconds into the game on a nice goal by Devon Beals. Lamar answered a little over a minute later to tie the game and then added a second goal a minute after that. The Spartans would answer with a goal by Elliott Easton to tie the game. Lamar would score their 3rd goal with :02 left in the period to take 3-2 lead after 1.

The second period saw Lamar really up their game and extend their lead to 8 – 4 as the Spartan defense struggled a little bit. Ricky Conticello contributed both of Stratford’s goals in the period.

The Spartans came out strong in the 3rd period. Lamar scored first,  but the Spartans then ran off four quick goals as Elliot Easton and Devon Beals each chipped in two goals apiece and the Lamar lead was narrowed down to 1. Unfortunately, Lamar would add 2 more goals toward the end of the period and held an 11-8 lead after 3.

The Spartans rallied hard in the fourth quarter with a goal from Devon and two more from Ricky Conticello. Ali Ezzi also landed his first goal of the season, but the Spartans could not quite catch the Texans and ended up falling 14 – 12.
