Stratford Tennis finished their season this week with the Regional Tournament at Deer Park. Seniors Haru Kimura and Claire Hess got a tough draw by playing the number one seed first round. They held their own, but fell to the eventual champions.

Since rising to 6A six years ago, we have never had a team win a match at the Regional Tournament. This year we broke that curse! Juniors Anna Thielemann and Mircea Tatulescu started with a great win over the #1 Pearland Dawson team 6-2, 6-1.

Then they played the #4 seed from Clear Springs in the Regional Quarterfinal. Three sets, an hour rain delay, and 3.5 hours of total match time later, Mircea and Anna upset the #4-seed 7-5 in the 3rd to reach the Regional Semi-Final!

Mircea and Anna’s incredible regional run finished in the semis after a close match with the #1-seed, falling 6-3, 6-3. Mircea and Anna officially finished 4th in the Region, and the best news is that they’ll both be back to lead our teams next year!
