Stratford vs Memorial

On Tuesday our Stratford Lady Spartans visited the Memorial Mustangs for a much-hyped rematch. As expected, the game did not disappoint with much back-and-forth play. A header by Lizzie Emerson off a Hope Coltrin corner kick put Stratford on the board mid-way through the first half.  A pass by Lauren Ahern to Ryann Weber extended Stratford’s lead to 2-0. Aggressive play by both teams continued during the second half. Despite a solid effort by Memorial’s offense, it wasn’t enough to get by Stratford’s impressive defensive line – Cameron Ballard, Kristin Geczik, Ellie Stephenson, and Kennedy Mayer.

Stratford beat Memorial for the second time this season with a final score 2-0. With the win, Stratford moves into 1st place in district 17-6A.

Stratford vs Cy Creek

On Friday evening, our Stratford Lady Spartans hosted the Cypress Creek Cougars. A pass by Ryann Weber to Allison Goodwin for the goal put Stratford on the board. A free kick by Rileigh Toner extended Stratford’s lead making it a 2-0 game. With 15 minutes left in the half, Cy Creek dribbled the ball down the middle for a one-on-one against the goalie making it 2-1 heading into the half.  The second half was rather uneventful with the exception of a partial streaker running out onto the field with four minutes left in the game. Stratford wins, 2-1.
