Stratford vs Spring Woods

26-Feb-2022

On Friday the Stratford Lady Spartans headed to Spring Woods for a frigid evening of soccer. Despite a relentless effort by Spring Woods, it wasn’t enough to slow down the Lady Spartans. Early into to the half a pass from Mia Thames to Hope Coltrin put Stratford on the board. Shortly after it was Hope Coltrin to Whitney Bui making it 2-0; Whitney Bui again for back-to-back goals. A beautiful header by Lauren Ahern off a corner kick by Hope Coltrin widened Stratford’s lead. With 23 seconds left in the half Spring Woods scored making it 4-1.

The second half was considerably more physical. After lots of back and forth in front of the goal, a tap in by Mary Paul extended Stratford’s lead. A handball in the box and a free kick by Spring Woods made it a 5-2 game. Mia Thames – player of the game – scored another goal for Stratford off a powerful throw-in by Cameron Ballard. With Stratford’s 6-2 win, the Lady Spartans clinched their spot in the playoffs.
