It was a program sweep for track and field this week as the Stratford varsity girls and boys won the team titles at the SBISD Will Taylor Relays, and the junior varsity girls, boys, and freshman boys all took gold in a tri-meet with Hastings and Northbrook. 

VARSITY - WILL TAYLOR RELAYS

After Covid canceled the Will Taylor Relays in 2020 and the Texas winter storm canceled it again in 2021, the annual event in our community returned with a bang at the Stratford track on Saturday.  A nice crowd was on hand under sunny skies and cool temps, and the entertainment value was very high.

When it was all said and done, the Spartan girls came away with three new school records, and earned 164 team points to win first place overall.  Cinco Ranch was second with 122 points and Cy-Ranch was third with 101.   Other girls teams in order of finish were Klein, Memorial, Katy Paetow, Jersey Village, Katy Taylor, Hastings, Northbrook, and Spring Woods.  

Although the boys competition was a little closer, Stratford had already wrapped up first place before the last event of the day had begun. The boys achieved 146 points, ahead of second-place Cinco Ranch with 127 and third-place Klein with 101.   Other boys teams in order of finish were Katy Paetow, Katy Taylor, Jersey Village, Cy-Ranch, Memorial, Hastings, Northbrook Spring Woods. 

During the 40+ year history of the event, the Stratford girls had never won the team title at the Will Taylor Relays before this year, and the Stratford boys had only taken first-place one time in 2017.  

Varsity will compete at the Bubba Fife Relays at Katy Paetow High School next Saturday, February 26.
