On Saturday morning, the Stratford Swim Team competed against 12 Houston-area high schools in the SBISD Invite at our very own natatorium. We came in 2nd place overall behind Memorial. Top 8 swims in each event included:

For the girls’ 200 medley relay, the A team placed 1st (1:54.66) with Emma Jackson (back), Lindsay Wong (breast), Allison Ortiz (fly), and Megan Zuanich (free). The B team finished 5th (2:07.51) with Isobel Glover (back), Grace Stern (breast), Artemisa De Jager (fly), and Lily Askounis (free).

For the boys’ 200 medley relay, the A team came in 2nd (1:44.85) with Elliot Easton (back), Gavin Beach (breast), Bryce Oliphant (fly), and Ali Ezzi (free). The B team was barely edged out of 3rd, finishing 4th (1:48.21) with Parker Kooyman (back), Kyle Brown (breast), Eric Jackson (fly), and Lucas Groves (free).

For the girls’ 200 free relay, the A team placed 1st (1:45.63) with Ortiz, Zhuri, Askounis, and Zuanich and the B team finished 5th (1:56.61) with Glover, Smith, Riley, and Stern.

For the boys’ 200 free relay, the A team finished 2nd (1:32.93) with Ezzi, Groves, Oliphant, and T. Barber. The B team placed 6th (1:39.66) with Pavlin, Austin Chao, Easton, and Brown.

Girls’ 100 back: Em. Jackson (1st, 1:03.81)

Boys’ 100 back: Easton (4th, 1:02.47), Kooyman (6th, 1:03.62)

Girls’ 100 breast: Wong (2nd, 1:10.97), Ortiz (6th, 1:18.26)

Boys’ 100 breast: Brown (2nd, 1:06.67), Ezzi (5th, 1:08.22), N. Moss (7th, 1:08.97)

For the girls’ 400 free relay, the A team placed 3rd (3:59.59) with Wong, Zhuri, Smith, and Em. Jackson. The B team finished 6th (4:13.18) with De Jager, Kennedy, Riley, and Askounis.

For the boys’ 400 free relay, the A team finished 2nd (3:28.42) with N. Moss, Ga. Beach, Groves, and T. Barber.

The swim team is a tight group, always supporting each other in and out of the pool. Several attended the Stratford Orchestra performance last Thursday night, cheering on their fellow teammates that played. The team will continue to wake up early and practice hard, including over the winter break, to be ready for the following upcoming meets: Senior Night (green and white meet) on January 5th, Duel in the Pool on January 8th, and finally the District Meet on January 22nd.
