On November 18th - 20th, the Stratford Swim Team traveled to Texarkana, TX to participate in the Northeast TISCA Meet. We had many great swims, with the boys finishing 2nd and the girls finishing 3rd. Our combined 3rd place score overall was 728. This is very impressive for a meet with 300+ swimmers from 23 high schools!

In the 100 fly, Allison Ortiz finished 1st with a fast 58.31. For the boys, it was Lowell Moss finishing 5th with a time of 55.42, followed by Bryce Oliphant finishing 7th in 56.83 and Eric Jackson (16th) in 1:00.17.

In the 500 free, Lindsay Wong sped to a 2nd place finish in 5:18.62, followed by Artemisa De Jager finishing 7th in 5:45.44. For the boys, Nathan Moss fought for a 2nd place finish in 4:57.54, going sub 5 minutes for the first time in this event.

In the 200 IM, Elle Burke finished 2nd in 2:14.53. Ashley Cooper finished first in the B final (9th overall) with a 2:26.84. For the boys, Gavin Beach was 6th place with a time of 2:07.23.

In the 50 free, Ortiz took 3rd with a 25.29, Lily Askounis took 5th with a 26.17, followed by Ariana Zhuri (10th) in 26.96 and Caroline Smith (14th) in 27.41. For the boys it was Ali Ezzi (7th) in 22.89, Oliphant (8th) in 23.01, and Lucas Groves (11th) in 23.65.

In the 100 free, Tyler Barber took 3rd place with a time of 49.05. Ezzi finished 7th with a 50.26, followed by Groves (11th) with a time of 52.03 and Kyle Brown (15th) in 53.98. For the girls it was Burke finishing 3rd in 54.59, followed by Grace Stern (9th) in 58.70, Zhuri (10th) in 59.18, and Smith (14th) in 59.40.

In the 200 free, Wong finished 3rd in 1:59.68, followed by De Jager finishing 8th and Ashley Cardin finishing 9th in 2:06.52. For the boys, it was T. Barber finishing 5th in 1:47.85.

In the 100 breast, L. Moss finished 5th with a time of 1:02.65 and N. Moss finished 14th in 1:07.29. For the girls, Avery Garcia finished 7th in 1:15.10 and Cardin finished 10th in 1:16.06.

In the 100 back, Stratford girls took 6th, 7th, and 8th place with Gwendolyn Beach (1:06.09), Cooper (1:06.50), and Askounis (1:06.56). For the boys, it was Er. Jackson taking 16th place with a 1:04.87.

In the 200 medley relay, the girls’ A team finished 2nd in 1:54.91 with Burke (back), Garcia (breast), Ortiz (fly), and Wong (free) and the girls’ B team finished 10th in 2:01.73 with Cooper (back), Smith (breast), Gw. Beach (fly), and Cardin (free). For the boys’ A team it was Er. Jackson (back), L. Moss (breast), N. Moss (fly), and Groves (free) finishing 6th with a time of 1:45.26. The boys’ B team took 8th place in 1:47.08 with Elliott Easton (back), Ga. Beach (breast), Marin Pavlin (fly), and Wyatt McCulley (free).

In the 200 free relay, the girls’ A team finished 2nd with a time of 1:43.80 with Burke, Ortiz, Stern, and Smith. The girls’ B team finished 6th in 1:49.31 with Hana Riley, Cardin, De Jager, and Zhuri. The boys’ A team also finished 2nd in 1:30.23 with Oliphant, L. Moss, Ezzi, and T. Barber. The boys’ B team finished 11th in 1:38.88 with Easton, Austin Chao, Er. Jackson, and Ricky Conticello.

In the 400 free relay, the boys’ A team finished 3rd in 3:20.76 with Ga. Beach, Oliphant, Ezzi, and T. Barber. The boys’ B team (3:34.87) and C team (3:41.27) also scored finishing in 9th and 12th place, respectively, with Pavlin, Luke Barber, Lucas Storey, and Groves for the B team and Devon Beals, Chao, Conticello, and N. Moss for the C team. The girls’ A team finished 3rd in 3:52.07 with Wong, Stern, Gw. Beach, and Zhuri. The girls’ B team finished 5th in 3:55.74 with Cooper, De Jager, Garcia, and Askounis.
