On Friday, November 12th, the Stratford Swim Team competed in an all-day prelims/finals meet against Memorial, Spring Woods, and Clear Creek High Schools at the SBISD Natatorium. Stratford swimmers are fast! There were several lifetime best times achieved. Those finishing in the top 4 spots (along with their fastest times swam at the meet) included:

Girls' Individual Events

Allison Ortiz (JR): 1st 50 free (24.93), 1st 100 fly (58.50)

Elle Burke (FR): 1st 500 free (5:21.30), 2nd 200 free (1:59.11)

Lindsay Wong (SO): 2nd 200 IM (2:12.74), 2nd 500 free (5:25.69)

Emma Jackson (SO): 2nd 100 back (1:01.82)

Ashley Cardin (JR): 4th 100 breast (1:16.74)

Ashley Cooper (JR): 4th 200 IM (2:30.94)

In the 200 medley relay, the girls’ A team with Em. Jackson (back), Wong (breast), Ortiz (fly), and Burke (free) finished 2nd in 1:50.16. The boys’ A team also took 2nd place with An. Zhuri (back), L. Moss (breast), Glover (fly), and Gavin Beach (free) with a time of 1:45.12. The boys’ B team captured 3rd place with Elliot Easton (back), Ezzi (breast), Eric Jackson (fly), and N. Moss (free), finishing at 1:49.11.

For the 200 freestyle relay, it was the girls’ A team touching the wall 2nd at 1:43.10 with Ariana Zhuri, Burke, Ortiz, and Em. Jackson. For the boys, the A team with Bryce Oliphant, T. Barber, Ga. Beach, and Glover came in 2nd place with a time of 1:31.77. The boys’ B team was not far behind finishing 3rd at 1:34.13 with Lucas Groves, Ezzi, N. Moss, and Hemmer.

To close out the meet, the girls took 2nd place in the 400 freestyle relay with Wong, Gwendolyn Beach, Grace Stern, and Ar. Zhuri in 3:56.45. The girls’ B team finished 3rd in 4:09.08 with Artemisa De Jager, Cardin, Lily Askounis, and Caroline Smith. The boys’ A team fought to a 3rd place finish with T. Barber, An. Zhuri, Hemmer, and Oliphant with a time of 3:31.63.
