Baseball Update Week of April 19th

Varsity Update

If you didn’t make it out to the Backyard Friday night you missed one heck of a game! The Varsity baseball team was determined to get their revenge against Memorial and boy did they. Josh Brand started out the game on the mound pitching a great game with 4.2 IP, 4H, 4R, 4BB, 4K. Paxton Terveen came in to close it out to help secure the win for the Spartans pitching 2.1 IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K. Offensive standouts were Diego Denson 2-3, 2SB, Tab Tracy 2-3, 2B, Mark Perkins 2B. Terveen, Perkins and William Kight all had RBIs. Luke Rives clinched the win with his walk off walk in the bottom of the 7th inning with bases loaded for a 5-4 Spartan Victory!

Tuesday was the first of 2 match ups with Cy Creek. Mark Perkins pitched another complete game getting the win with a score of 6-2. Perkins was fantastic on both offense and defense, pitching 7IP, 3H, 2R, 2BB, 13K plus he went 2-3 with a RBI. Other offensive standouts were William Kight 2-2, 2 RBIs, SB, Tab Tracy 2B, Paxton Terveen RBI, SB, Leo Maass SB, and Cameron Donley added an RBI.

The boys close out the series against Cy Creek on Friday at Cy Creek at 7:00 pm.

JV Update

The Stratford Spartans JV team traveled to Mustang Park last Thursday and split a double-header with their rival Memorial. In the opener Thomas Cloud went the distance in dominating fashion collecting 8K and only giving up 1R in the 5 -1 victory. Leading the offensive attack were Tucker Copeland with 2H, RBI, Brecken Menuet 1 H, RBI, Braxton Wakefield 1 H, RBI, Carter Looney 1H, Luke Barre 1H, John White RBI. Looney, Copeland, Menuet, Johnson, and Garnero all scored for the Spartans.

In the second game Pierce Cohen pitched 2.1 IP collecting 2K while allowing 3R. Braxton Wakefield pitched the remaining 2 innings giving up 4R with 3K. Leading offensive players were Alex Skoutelakis 2H, RBI, Menuet 1H, RBI, White 1H, RBI, Garnero 1H, Barre 1H, RBI, Looney RBI, Copeland 1H, and Harris Timmreck scored on a double in the gap. Overall, the Spartans played a great game and suffered a heartbreaker in the end losing 7-5.

Next game was Wednesday against Cy Creek – details to come next week.
