Week of 10/12 Volleyball Highlights

The Lady Spartans had one of their hottest weeks of the 2020 season. They played two district rivals who were hyped up to give the Lady Spartans a run for their money. Fortunately, the Spartans were ready for the challenge.

They started the week off, meeting up with Cy-Creek, the ladies started off with a two games to zero lead, but the 3rd set became a little rocky and the Cy-Creek team won the set. The Spartans rebounded in the 4th set and regained the dominance from the first two sets to overcome them with a 3 sets to 1 victory.

Continuing the play on Friday, the Lady Spartans were surprised by the aggressiveness of the Jersey Village team and lost the first set. The team was motivated and energized by the Jersey Village crowd, and came back to win 3 straight sets (one holding them to 8 points) to defeat them 3 sets to 1 as well.

The team was led by Nina Terry with 84 assists, contributed 21 digs and 7 kills, Olivia Abbott was a Tasmanian devil on the court with 39 digs, Alexis Andrews was on fire with 5 aces, 33 kills and 34 digs, Rylie LaRue contributed 10 kills and 9 digs, Sharlotte McClintock had 12 kills, 5 blocks with a hitting percentage of .360 and Marjani Stanfill contributed 19 kills, 5 blocks with a hitting percentage of 390.

The Lady Spartans will finish the first round of district with a game against Northbrook Tuesday 10/20.
