It was a great win for the Spartans as Stratford defeated Cy Ridge in a nail-biter at Tully Stadium on Saturday.

Cy Ridge scored 10 points before Darese Steptoe ran a kickoff back 98 yards to get Stratford on the board. The defense tightened up and AJ Abbott found Ben Moseley, Hawkins Polley and Diego Denson for successive touchdowns. With the Spartans up 28-13, Cy Ridge mounted a furious comeback bringing the score to 28-26 but failed to convert a 2 point conversion.

The offensive line continued to play well and opened a hole for Abbott who scored on a 9 yard run to make it 34-26. Cy Ridge scored once more with 1:42 left but once again, the Spartan defense held them out of the end zone on the 2 point conversion.

Perry Pope and Matthew Prudhomme recovered onside kicks to help seal the win.

This game was a team win with everyone contributing and making key plays - offense, defense, and special teams.
