After starting the season with 1 win and 4 losses the Spartan JV team went into the last game of the year with a record of 10 wins and 5 losses and they were on a 4 game winning streak and were looking to close out the season with a strong win against the Rams.
Unfortunately, that was not in the cards. The Spartans were missing James McVaugh who was out sick and Luke Hatcher though back was on limited playing time. The Spartans started strong on the play of Tristan Morrison, Cameron Cronin and Garrett Dudley and were leading at the half 40-34.
The Spartans came out flat in the 2nd half. A perfect storm of sloppy play, turnovers and missed shots led to one of the worst halves the Spartans had the entire season. After scoring 40 in the first and shooting over 50% from the field, the Spartans could not buy a shot in the second half and only scored 14 points with a 22% field goal percentage. The Rams ran a full court press the entire 2nd half that rattled the Spartans from the start and they just could not recover. The Spartans ultimately lost the game by 10 by a score of 54-64.
Though not the way the Spartans wanted to end the season, the team came together after a tough start and pulled together a great season that was fun to watch. Thank you to the coaches for a great season and to all the fans for supporting them throughout the season.
