The Spartan took a three game winning streak on the road to take on the Northbrook Raiders.
The first quarter started unusually slow. Both teams seemed timid and not wanting to take the initiative. The quarter ended with mild scoring – a 9-7 Spartan lead.
The second quarter picked up and the score was tied 11—11 with 6:19 to go. The Spartans went on a tear and #23 Jameson Cronin hit a last second 3-ball to give the Spartans the lead at the half 23-16.
The third quarter started with the Raiders roaring back to life. The Raiders dropped 14 points for the quarter which included a 4-0 run in the last minute of the quarter but the Spartans brought their game too, scoring 13 points of their own. The quarter ended with a slimmer Spartan lead 36-32.
The Spartans defense tightened up throughout the 4th quarter and they were able to hold the Raiders to only 6 points in the quarter. The tight defense was needed due to missed shots, lack of rebounding (Luke Hatcher still out) and turnovers which held the Spartans scoring to only 8 points during the 4th quarter. Though it may have not been pretty, the Spartans held on to claim the “W” with a 44-38 victory on Valentine’s Day.
