After having a bye the previous Friday, the Spartans were at home again the Tigers and were coming in on a solid two game win streak.
The first quarter started with an 8-0 Spartan run but was answered by an 8-0 Tiger run. The quarter was evenly played with the Tigers as the smaller team but were very quick. The Spartans moved the ball well and the quarter ended with a slim 10-9 lead.
The second quarter started slow for the Spartans. A number of missed shots and with leading rebounder, Luke Hatcher out with an ankle sprain the Spartans struggled with offensive rebounding. The Tigers went on a 7-2 run at the beginning of the quarter and the Spartans were down 12-16 with 4:41 to go. Continued sloppy play and turnovers by the Spartans along with solid play by the Tigers had the Tigers up 24-17 at the half.
The Spartans went into the third quarter needing to overcome a 7 point deficit. The Spartans were up for the challenge and began the quarter on a 12-0 run and were leading 29-24 with 4:24 to go. The Tigers answered with a 10-3 run the 2nd half of the quarter and took over the lead 34-32 with 1:55 to go. A single SHS foul shot the last two minutes finished the quarter with the Spartans down by one at 33-34.
It was a tight start to 4th quarter. The game was tied 35-35 after a minute and 30 sec. It was then that the Spartans began to slowly pull away. The score was 44-39 with 3:41 to go. Each team battled down the stretch but the Spartans pulled it out with a 10-5 run. The Spartans pulled out the 10 point victory 54-44.
