On Friday, January 31st and Saturday, February 1st, the regional swimmers and divers competed for a chance to go on to state.

Only the top 2 swimmers in each event automatically advance. The swimmers with the next top 8 times in the state also get called up to participate in the state meet. For diving, the top 3 scores advance to state competition.

Stratford had 2 swimmers that qualified individually: Max Zuanich (200 free/100 back) and Emma Venghaus (100 back), both with 3rd place finishes in their events, but fast enough times to get called up. Diver Sam Jones once again had a strong meet, finishing in 3rd place as well with a score of 392.50, guaranteeing him a trip to Austin as well. Way to go Max, Emma, and Sam!!

Both of the boys’ relays (200 Medley/200 free) are also advancing to state competition with Zuanich, Luke Reed, Henry Genez, and Keagan Firenza. These guys cannot be stopped!

Finalists (top 8) included Kara Moss (200 IM/100 breast); Luke Reed (200 IM/100 breast); Henry Genez (50 free/100 fly); Allison Ortiz (100 fly); Charlize Spiers (1 mtr diving); girls’ 200 Medley Relay and 200 free relay with Venghaus, Moss, Ortiz, and Ariana Zhuri; girls’ 400 free relay with Venghaus, Grace Stern, Leah Easton, and Zhuri; and boys’ 400 free relay with Callum Glover, Charlie Williams, Jack.
