Varsity District Swim Meet

On Saturday, January 25, the Varsity Swim Team competed in their highly competitive district meet at Klein High School. Swimmers must finish in the top 6 to move on to Regionals, and Stratford had several that were able to do it! 51/52 swims were season best times! Those moving on to Regionals are:

• Max Zuanich, who was the District Champion in the 200 free and 2nd in the 100 back.

• Allison Ortiz, who was the District Champion in the 100 fly and 2nd in the 50 free.

• Kara Moss, who was a silver medalist in the 200 IM and 3rd in the 100 breast.

• Emma Venghaus, who was a silver medalist in the 100 back.

• Luke Reed, who placed 3rd in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 breast.

• Henry Genez, who placed 4th in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 fly.

• Gwendolyn Beach, who placed 5th in the 100 back.

• Lowell Moss, who placed 6th in the 200 IM.

• The boys’ 200 Medley Relay team were District Champions with Zuanich (back), Reed (breast), Genez (fly), and Keagan Firenza (free).

• The boys’ 200 free relay team finished 2nd with Zuanich, Genez, Reed, and Callum Glover.

• The girls’ 200 Medley Relay team finished 2nd with Venghaus (back), Moss (breast), Ortiz (fly), and Ariana Zhuri (free).

• The girls’ 200 free relay team finished 3rd with Ortiz, Venghaus, Zhuri, and Moss.

• The girls’ 400 free relay team finished 4th with Leah Easton, Grace Stern, Ava Wylie, and Gwendolyn Beach.

• The boys’ 400 free relay team finished 5th with Callum Glover, Charlie Williams, Jack Brennan, and Keagan Firenza.

Come out to cheer on your Spartan swimmers at Regionals prelims on Friday, January 31 at 4 pm at The Woodlands. The top 16 swimmers will return for finals on Saturday, February 1 at 4 pm. It’s been a great season! Go Stratford!
