February 19th update:
Friday 2/5/2010
9B vs. Northbrook
Stratford 41 Northbrook 9
The Freshman B team showed how they have grown together as a team by beating Northbrook
41-9. Throughout the game, Nick Eades and Connor Duffy contributed by consistently hustling and
grabbing rebounds. The end of the first period found Stratford leading 16-2. By half time, the
Spartans raced to stay ahead 26-4. This strong attack continued throughout the 3rd period with
the Spartans still ahead 39-4. The final score was 41-9. Kust Kaiser was the high point scorer with
10 points, along with DeVante Barr bucketing 6 points. Great effort and team work, Spartans!
Tuesday 2/2/2010
9B vs. Hastings
Stratford 30 Hastings 27
Coach Levine said, “this was the best game we have played all season long!” At the end of the first
period, the Spartans were trailing Alief by 3 points with the score 8-5.
The Spartans kicked in energy during the second period however were still behind 16-13 at the
half. Connor Duffy really hustled and grabbed several rebounds. The Spartans started the fourth
period with a deficit of 5 points and the score being Alief 22, Stratford 17.
In the end, due to efficient team work and hustling, the Spartans BEAT…….yes BEAT Alief
Hastings 30-27!! Way to catch up guys! The high point scorers were Dy’Vaughn Millner (6pts) and
OT Tay (4 pts). Looking at the point spread, you can see that the team as a whole had plenty of
players working hard and squaring up to make those baskets! Once again, Coach Levine was
happy and proud of his team! GO GREEN! BELIEVE!!!!!

9B vs. Memorial

The Spartans visited the Mustangs and surprised them throughout the whole game with a strong
defense as well as offense.
The first period ended with the Spartans trailing the Mustangs by 3 points, with the Mustangs
scoring 17 points to the Spartans’ 14. Defensively, Alonzo Acosta and Tony Johnson worked hard
at rebounding and getting the ball down to Stratford’s bucket.
At the half, the score was tied 23-23. The Spartans wanted this win!! They had played with some
of these Memorial boys in SBMSA ever since they were in first grade! The Spartans would not
back down!
During the 3rd period, the Spartans showed the Mustangs that they were a force to be reckoned
with by taking the lead. They would not give up! Although the Spartans lost by 1 point, they should
be proud of the tremendous team effort. The high point scorers were Kurt Kaiser and Alonso
Acosta with 10 points each and Kiara Arnold with 6 points. Such a close and aggressive game
played by two strong and spirited teams!
Tuesday 1/26/2010
9B vs. Alief Taylor
Stratford 39 Alief Taylor 44
Although the Spartans lost to Alief Taylor by 5 points, the Spartans played hard and would not give
up. After the first period, they found themselves trailing Taylor by 7 points with Taylor ahead 15-8.
By the half they were still behind 20-25. The third quarter ended with the score of 25-20 with the
Spartans still behind. This Taylor team was strong and aggressive!
The high scorers were Kurt Kaiser with 10 points and Devante Barr with 6 points. With the final
score for Stratford of 39, you can see that other players contributed to all of these points as well.
Great game B team!
January 21st update:
Stratford 53 vs Memorial 62
Stratford traveled to Memorial to face their rivals the Mustangs. The game was so close at times.
The first period ended with the score of Stratford 9 and Memorial 14.
The second period was very close with Stratford scoring 18 points while Memorial came behind
them at 17 points. It was a nail biter of a period.
After the half, the Spartans scored 17 points while the Mustangs produced 19 points.
The last period, the Mustangs ran away with the game by scoring 12 points to Stratford’s 9. The
Mustangs won 62-53.
The high point scorers were DeVante Barr, (8 points), Christian Alleyne (6 points), and Kurt Kaiser
(11 points).
Although the Spartans lost, it was a great team effort from everyone!!!
Stratford 37 VS Fort Bend Travis 29
The Spartans started their holiday break off with a great win against Fort Bend Travis. They were
tied after the first period 9-9.
The Spartans broke their defense during the second period with the score of 23-15.
After the half, Travis slowed the Spartans when they scored 10 points to Stratford’s 5. The
Spartans came back with a win on 37-29.
The defense was strong with Othaniel (OT) Tay and Tony Johnson stealing that ball away.
Christian Alleyne was the high point scorer of the game. Way to go Spartans!
Stratford 51 - Mayde Creek 33
The Freshman B-team ran hard and easily won a game against Mayde Creek. The passes were
complete and the defense was fierce.
Stratford led the game in all 4 periods! First quarter score, 16-6. Second quarter, 27-12. Third
quarter, 43-28 and final score, 51-33.
The high point scorer of the game was Kurt Kaiser. Way to go Spartans! Great team work!
December 9th update:
Stratford 57 Katy 34
After many team assists, the might Spartans muscled their way to victory over Katy, 57- 34!!! This
young Spartan team has showed so much growth and team cohesion. They swiftly ran that ball up
and down the court, making their baskets through numerous assists and scoring. They clearly
showed consistent team effort by working together. Go mighty Spartans!!!
November 29th update:
Stratford 33 Klein 27
The Freshman B Spartans won 33-27. The team worked so well together and there were
numerous assists throughout the game. Everyone got to play and hustled the entire game .
Afterward, Coach commented to the team that they did a great job on defense.
