SHS Vs. Baytown Sterling
December 28, 2011
Let’s take our Spartan fan base back to Dec. 28, 2011 when our sophomore men traveled to North Shore High for their holiday tournament. It was a successful Spartan outing against those Rangers of Baytown Sterling! The game began with it being 15 to 12 Spartans, after the first period. The boys in green took off in the 2nd period ending the half with the score being 37 to 24, Stratford.
Our boys continued their good team play in the 3rd period going into the 4th with a 13 point lead. The Sterling Rangers decided they would have none of this Spartan domination and came back with a shooting vengeance! The sophomore men said “No way to giving up this lead and hung on to win the game 55-52. Whew!
Our high point shooter was Donathan Daniels with 12. Moustapha Massoud and Ahmed Butt both swished baskets with 8 points each. Hunter Clay had 7 with Roemello McCardell shooting 6. Grant Johnson, Luis Lerna, Jake Klausmeyer and Scotty Wimberley all added to the win with 2 a piece. Coach Perkins was pleased with the team effort shown by all. Good job Sophomore Spartans!
SHS Vs. Magnolia

The Sophomore district play opened with a definite “swish” for Stratford. On Dec. 16th, when their fellow classmates were dancing in the streets for Winter Break, the Sophomores took on Magnolia at 6:00p.m. all the way out to the Bulldog Dog Pound gym. That didn’t stop the determination of the Spartan men. A big team effort led to this 60-36 win!
Eleven Spartan players contributed by putting points on the scoreboard to capture this victory. The leading scorer was Terrell Ford with a whopping 17 points! Keenan Powell had 9. Romello McCardell and Moustapha Massoud each had 7. Jonathan Bulwhuis and Jake Klausmeyer had 4 a piece. Scotty Wimberley had 3 points with Hunter Clay and Donathan Daniels each making 2. Coach Perkins shared his pride with the team that they all worked together for this victory. Congratulations Sophomore Spartans on a great win!
