Freshman A
February 7, 2012 - February 10, 2012

The Spartan Freshman A basketball team traveled to Brenham High school on Tuesday, February 7th for a district game against the Freshman Cubs.  Cold shooting from the Spartans and effective defense by the Cubs led to a Spartan loss by a final score of 50-27.  Davey Sulma and Greg Lee led the Spartans with 6 points each.  Taylor Nicholas scored 5 points, Matt Adair and Marcus Moffett scored 4 points each and Jack Whitaker added a basket to round out scoring for the Spartans.

On the road again on Friday, February 10th, the Stratford Spartans Freshman A team sought and took revenge against the Montgomery Bears by a 36-32 verdict.  The Spartans played tenacious defense throughout the game, contesting every possession and pass.  Stratford was clinging to the narrowest of leads before Taylor Nicholas made a defensive steal and went coast-to-coast for a layup with two minutes left.  Davey Sulma went 6 for 6 from the free throw line as the game wound down.  The Spartans reached into their bag of tricks to produce its final points on a full court Matthew Adair lay-in, just before the Bears hit a three pointer to narrow the lead as time expired.  Greg Lee led the scoring for the Spartans with 11 points, including a buzzer beating 3 pointer at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Davey Sulma scored 6, Taylor Nicholas and Matthew Adair added 5 each, with Matt Martin, Kyle Mosby and Jack Whitaker contributing 4, 3 and 2 points, respectively.  Marcus Moffett defended and rebounded well.  The Spartan postmen Levi Briscoe and Jack Whitaker did an outstanding job of containing Montgomery's talented big man.

Freshman B
February 7, 2012 - February 10, 2012

The Freshmen B Team decisively routed their opponents this week.  The Spartans travelled to Brenham and defeated the Cubs 57 - 31 on Tuesday, led by Christian Cassady's 16 points, 9 points by Davis Smith and 8 points each by Josh Glover and Austin Cepeda.  TJ Turner scored 6 points, followed by Jacob Bradshaw with 4 and 2 points each from Cameron Haney, Marcus Harris and Nathaniel Scott.

On Friday February 10 the Spartans unloaded another 57 points on the Montgomery Bears behind strong inside scoring from Marcus Harris and Nathaniel Scott of 17 and 9 points, respectively.  TJ Turner pumped in 12 from the point guard position.  The Spartan scoring was rounded out with 5 points from Austin Cepeda, 4 from Christian Cassady and a bucket from Jacob Bradshaw.  The Spartans are carrying strong momentum into their final game, a revenge match-up with Northbrook on Tuesday February 14.

Freshman A
January 31, 2012 - February 3, 2012

The Spartan Freshman A basketball team went on the road for a district game on Tuesday, January 24th against the Freshman Mustangs from Magnolia West High School.  After a long bus ride, the Spartans jumped out to an early lead and led throughout this contest, winning the game by a final score of 37-24.  A strong team performance, particularly on defense helped the Spartans get the win.  Big Levi Briscoe found a home in the paint during this contest and led the Spartans with 10 points, including 4 free throws in the fourth quarter and he added several rebounds to help seal the win.  Davey Sulma scored 7 for the Spartans including a three pointer in the fourth quarter, Taylor Nicholas had 5 points and added a couple of steals and assists.  Matt Adair and Marcus Moffett had 4 points each and rebounded well, Jack Whitaker had 3 points, Greg Lee had one basket to add to numerous steals, assists and rebounds and Kyle Mosby hit a big basket in the first half for the Spartans.

The Spartans welcomed Waller to SHS for the final time on Friday, February 3rd.  The game was a tight defensive battle with the score tied at 22 at the end of the third quarter, with Stratford cleaning the defensive glass and limiting Waller's second shot attempts.  The Spartans exploded in the fourth quarter with three different players going coast-to-coast for successful left-handed layups after athletic defensive steals.  Despite struggling at the free throw line early, Stratford made 7 of 11 attempts in the final period and won the contest 39 - 29.  Taylor Nicholas led the scoring with 8, Greg Lee and Davey Sulma scored 7 each, Jack Whitaker added 6, while Levi Briscoe and Matthew Adair each contributed 4 points, with Matt Martin making 3 clutch free throws.  The entire team played with good defensive intensity and Matthew Adair battled on the boards for over 15 rebounds.

Freshman B
January 27 2012 - January 31, 2012

The Spartan Freshman Boys B team finished the month of January strong, with consecutive victories over Spring Woods 40 -26 and over Magnolia West 41-24.    Against SWHS, Christian Cassady scored 11 points to lead the Spartans, followed by TJ Turner with 8, Marcus Harris with 7, Nathaniel Scott with 4, Cameron Haney and Davis Smith with 3 each and 2 points each from Jacob Bradshaw and Matt Wagner.  The Spartans' runaway victory against Magnolia West was led by TJ Turner's 14 points and Marcus Harris' strong 10 points inside the paint.  Davis Smith added 5 points Christian Cassady added 4 points with 2 points each being contributed by Matt Wagner, Josh Glover, Cameron Haney and Austin Cepeda. 

Freshman A
January 24, 2012 - January 27, 2012

The Spartan Freshman A basketball team hosted a district game on Tuesday, January 24th against the Freshman Bulldogs from Magnolia High School. In a nail biter to the very end, the Spartans rode another strong team performance to a 38-35 victory. For the second straight game Greg Lee led all scorers with 12 points, including an 11 point first quarter. Taylor Nicholas also had a big scoring day with 8 points for the Spartans. Big Jack Whitaker banged in 6 points from the low post position, the "two headed Matt's", Adair and Martin knocked down 5 points each and Davey Sulma scored 4 points for the Spartans.

On Friday, January 27, the SHS Freshman A basketball team hosted the Freshman Tigers from Spring Woods High in a district game at Stratford gym. The Spartans lost a heartbreaker to the Tigers by a score of 43-42. The Spartans played from behind throughout the first half but ended the third quarter with a slim one point lead. A back and forth 4th quarter left the Spartans one point short at the end of regulation. Greg Lee led the Spartans once again with 11 points. Taylor Nicholas was also in double digits for the Spartans, scoring 10 points. Other Spartan scorers included Jack Whitaker with 7 points, Davey Sulma with 6 points, Matt Martin had 3 points, Kyle Mosby and Levi Briscoe had 2 points each and Matt Adair added a free throw for the Spartans.

Freshman B
January 20 2012 - January 24, 2012

The Freshman B Team Boys Basketball team battled fast and furious with Northbrook on January 20 and fell just short on a last tenth of a second basket by the score of 62-61.  Christian Cassady led the Spartans' explosive attack with 22 points.  TJ Turner and Marcus Harris each scored 8 points.  Austin Cepeda and Davis Smith worked for 6 points each, while Cameron Haney added 4, while Matt Wagner and Nathan Scott each chipped in 3 points.

On Tuesday January 24 Magnolia visited the Spartans and played strong defense as they prevailed 46-40 vs Stratford.  Christian Cassady scored 11, Austin Cepeda 8 and TJ Turner 7 points.  Marcus Harris scored 6 tough points inside and Matt Wagner contributed 2.  Cameron Haney added 6 points offensively and erased 9 Magnolia shot attempts with his defensive blocks.

Freshman A
January 17, 2012 - January 20, 2012

The Spartan Freshman A basketball team hosted a district game on Tuesday, January 17th against the Freshman Bears from Montgomery High School. Cold shooting throughout the game really hurt the Spartans who fell to the Bears by a score of 35-29.  Davey Sulma led Spartan scorers with 9 points including 7 points in the fourth quarter.  Taylor Nicholas added 7 points, Greg Lee had 4 points, Thomas Wimberley had 3 points.  Matt Adair, Levi Briscoe and Jack Whitaker scored a basket each for the Spartans.

On Friday, January 20, the SHS Freshman A basketball team traveled to Northbrook High School to face the Freshman Raiders in another district game.  In what was easily the best team effort from the Spartans this season, the Freshman Spartans notched a huge 49-36 win against the Raiders.  The Spartans managed to build a small lead in the first quarter and hold onto it throughout the remainder of the game.  Outstanding team hustle and significant contributions from everyone on the squad helped the Spartans hold off a second half rally and a barrage of three point attempts by the Raiders for the win.  The Spartans outscored the Raiders 17-7 in the fourth quarter.  Greg Lee led all scorers with 16 points and he also added a handful of steals and assists to his points total.  Matt Martin played huge in this game scoring 8 points and pulling down several key rebounds in the second half.  Other Spartan scorers included Levi Briscoe with 7 points, Matt Adair with 6 points, Davey Sulma and Thomas Wimberley had 4 points each and Taylor Nicholas and Jack Whitaker each added a basket in a big win for the Spartans.

Freshman B
January 13 2012 - January 17, 2012

The Freshman B team applied a strong full court press, creating many turnovers and extra scoring opportunities, on the way to scoring 47 points in a resounding victory over Brenham on January 13.  Christian Cassady led the scoring with 20 points, followed by Davis Smith with 14, Tony Turner with 7, Marcus Harris 5 and Jacob Bradshaw 1.  On three successive trips down the court when Brenham broke through backcourt pressure for a drive to the basket, Cameron Haney erased the layup attempts and collected the rebound to start fast break baskets in the other direction for Stratford.

On Tuesday January 17 the Freshman B team trounced Montgomery 52 -22 with solid defensive pressure and scoring from many players.  Tony Turner led the scoring with 13 points primarily on drives to the basket and Christian Cassady added 11 points.  Nathan Scott battled inside for 7 points.  Marcus Harris and Austin Cepedea added 6 points each, Cameron Haney 5 points, with Jacob Bradshaw and Blake Collins adding 2 points each.

Freshman A
January 10, 2012 - January 13, 2012

The Spartan Boy’s Freshman A basketball team traveled to Waller to face the Freshman Bulldogs from Waller High School on Tuesday, January 10th.  Rebounding was again the difference for the Spartans during the contest.  SHS held a small lead through virtually the entire game and won what turned out to be a tight game on the road by a final score of 31-28.  Greg Lee led the Spartans in scoring with 11 points.  Other Spartan scorers included Davey Sulma with 8 points, big Jack Whitaker had 4 points, Taylor Nicholas, Kyle Mosby and Marcus Moffett had a basket each and Matt Adair and Levi Briscoe each added a free throw to round out the Spartan scoring.

The Cubs from Brenham High School visited Stratford High on Friday, January 13, to face the Freshman A Spartans.  The Cubs inside game proved to be too much for the Spartans who were defeated by a score of 47-36.  Matt Adair played big during the contest and had 11 points to lead the Spartan scoring effort.  Jack Whitaker played solid minutes and had 8 points from the paint.  Taylor Nicholas knocked down two 3 point baskets in the first half and finished with 6 points.  Davey Sulma scored 5 points, Kyle Mosby had a basket as did Levi Briscoe and Greg Lee finished with one free throw as did Thomas Wimberley point for the Spartans.

Freshman A
January 3, 2012 - January 6, 2012

The New Year started fast and successfully for the SHS Freshman A basketball team.  The Spartans took a little road trip across the freeway for a district game against the Freshman Tigers from Spring Woods High School on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.  Hustle on both ends of the floor helped the Spartans establish a lead which they held through the entire contest.  The Spartans really pulled away in the third quarter outscoring Spring Woods 13-3 and rode that lead to a 47-35 win.  Taylor Nicholas led all scorers with 13 total points including three 3 point baskets.  Marcus Moffett was the other Spartan in double digits, scoring 10 points.  Levi Briscoe had 7 points in the paint and at the line, Greg Lee added 7, Mikal Pruitt scored 3 points, Davey Sulma, Matt Adair and Jack Whitaker each scored a basket and Thomas Wimberley contributed a free throw in the Spartan win.

Fresh from their road win on Tuesday, the Freshman A Spartans returned to the friendly confines of the SHS gym for another district game on Friday, January 6 against the Freshman Mustangs from Magnolia West High School.  The rims proved friendly to the Spartans who notched yet another district win against the Mustangs.  The Spartans jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back on their way to a 34-20 victory.  “Marvelous” Marcus Moffett led all scorers with 9 points including 5 in the fourth quarter.  Greg Lee added 6 points, Mikal Pruitt had 5 points, Levi Bricsoe and Matt Adair each scored 4, Taylor Nicholas and Davey Sulma scored a basket each and Thomas Wimberley and Jack Whitaker both added a free throw in the impressive win by the Spartans.

January 3, 2012 - January 6, 2012

The first week of 2012 play started off with a bang for the Freshmen B Team, with victories over Spring Woods and Magnolia West.  The Spartans defeated Spring Woods 50 - 32, with each player in the Spartan lineup scoring.  Tony "TJ" Turner led the scoring with 13 points, followed by Kyle Mosby with 5, Davis Smith, Christian Cassady, Cameron Haney and Marcus Harris with 4 each, Josh Glover with a 3 pointer, Matt Wagner, Jermaine Williams and Nathan Scott with 2 points each and Jacob Bradshaw with 1.  The Spartans played solid defense and made positive adjustments after the second quarter of their battle with Magnolia West to win 35-22.  Christian Cassady scored 11 points, with contributions of 6 from Kyle Mosby, 5 from Marcus Harris, 4 from Nathan Scott, 3 from TJ Turner and 2 points each from Matt Wagner, Davis Smith and Cameron Haney.

December 16, 2011 - December 30, 2011

The Spartan Boy’s Freshman A basketball team traveled to Magnolia to face the Freshman Bulldogs from Magnolia High School on Friday, December 16th.  Inside rebounding was the difference for the Spartans during the contest.  SHS held a lead through virtually the entire game and won on the road by a final score of 33-23.  Levi Briscoe pounded in 10 points and led all scorers.  Other Spartan scorers included Mikal Pruitt with 6 points, Greg Lee, who added 5 points to the tally, Jack Whitaker with 4 points, Taylor Nicholas and Davey Sulma each rained in 3 point baskets for their scoring contributions, and Marcus Moffett chipped in a basket to round out the Spartan scoring.

The Spartan Freshman A Boy’s team took a little trip out to Cy Ranch High School on Friday, December 20 to face the Freshman Mustangs, whose shooting proved to be just too much for the Spartans as the good guys lost, 67-51.  Matt Adair shot “lights out” during the contest and had 16 points to lead the Spartan scoring effort.  Davey Sulma also was a double digit scorer as well with 11 points.  Greg Lee had 8 points, Mikal Pruitt and Jack Whitaker each had 4 points, Thomas Wimberley added four points and Marcus Moffett and Levi Briscoe scored a basket each for the Spartans.

The Spartan Freshmen A basketball team stayed very busy during the holiday break.  On Tuesday morning, December 27, the Stratford Freshmen visited the Mustangs from Northshore High School in a tournament setting at Northshore Senior High School in Galena Park.  In round one of the tournament, the Mustangs used their home setting to hand a defeat to the Freshman Spartans with a score of 86-43.  Spartan scorers were led by big Jack Whitaker who dropped in 8 points from the paint and Matt Adair who also scored eight points including two 3 point bombs in the first half.  Levi Briscoe scored a tough 5 points.  Four Spartans had 4 points each in the contest.  They were Mikal Pruitt, Marcus Moffett, Davey Sulma and Greg Lee.  Kyle Mosby hit a big three point shot in the second quarter and Thomas Wimberley added a free throw in the fourth period to round out the scoring for the Spartans.

The second round of the Galena Park Tournament for the Freshman Spartans was held later on December 27 at Northshore Senior High Mustang gym. In this round, the Stratford Spartan Freshmen battled the Sterling High School Freshman team.  The Spartans won what turned out to be a great contest by a score of 38 - 37.  Stratford and Sterling traded baskets throughout the game, the Spartans finding themselves down by 3 at halftime.  The Spartans basically played even with Sterling in the second half, pulling slightly ahead in the third quarter and winning the game with a “runner” at the buzzer.  Jack Whitaker and Jody Stubblefield shared scoring honors in the contest for the Spartans with 8 points each, Mikal Pruitt banged in 6 points, Thomas Wimberley and Greg Lee each had 5 points and Taylor Nicholas, Matt Adair and Marcus Moffett scored a basket each for the Spartans.

The final round of the Galena Park Tournament for the Spartans was held on Wednesday morning, December 28.  The 9 am game at Northshore Middle School had the Stratford Spartan Freshman team facing the Freshman Mustangs from Northshore High School.  Another great basketball game was played on this morning and at the end of the contest, the Stratford Freshmen emerged victorious by a score of 57-50.  The Spartans found themselves down at the end of the first quarter and the game was tied at halftime.  The Spartans pulled ahead in the third quarter and held on through the fourth with Marcus Moffett scoring 8 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter.  Other scorers in the contest included Jody Stubblefield, who scored 10 points, Thomas Wimberley who had 6 points, Davey Sulma and Mikal Pruitt scored 5 points each, Greg Lee, Kyle Mosby and Levi Briscoe added 3 points each, Taylor Nicholas and Matt Martin each chipped in a basket and Jack Whitaker added a free throw to complete the scoring summary for the Spartans.

The Freshman A Spartans played the Freshman Lions from Alief Taylor High School on Friday, December 30, 2011.  The defensive pressure by the Lions proved to be too much for the Spartans.  The Lions built a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and never really looked back.  The game ended with Alief Taylor defeating the Spartans 66-40.  The scoring leader for the Spartans in this contest was Jack Whitaker with 10 points.  Davey Sulma and Thomas Wimberley scored 7 points each, Greg Lee had 6 points, Taylor Nicholas had 5 points, Matt Adair hit a 3 point basket in the third quarter and Marcus Moffett had 2 points for the Spartans.

December 20, 2011

The Freshmen B team fell to Cy Ranch by a score of 35-25.   After falling behind in the first quarter, the team played even with Cy Ranch with improved half-court defense and five three point baskets.  Scoring for the Spartans were Kyle Mosby with 7 points, Jermaine Williams and Marcus Harris with 6 points each, Davis Smith 3, Josh Glover 2 and Austin Cepeda with 1.

December 6, 2011 - December 10, 2011

The final week before semester exams was a busy one for the Spartan Freshmen basketball teams. On Tuesday, December 6, the Stratford Freshmen visited the arch rival Mustangs from Memorial High School. The rims proved friendly to the Mustangs who "rained in" eight 3 point baskets en route to a 44-28 defeat of the Freshman A Spartans at Mustang gym. Spartan scorers were led by Greg Lee and Levi Briscoe who dropped in 6 points each. Matt Adair and Marcus Moffett each had 4 points in the contest. Taylor Nicholas and Davey Sulma both scored 3 points, Matt Martin chipped in a free throw as did Mikal Pruitt to round out the Spartan scoring.

The first round of the Katy Invitational Basketball Tournament was held at Mayde Creek High School on Thursday, December 8. The Stratford Spartan Freshmen battled the Morton Ranch Mavericks in round 1. The Spartans lost the contest 49 - 34.  Stratford fell behind 11-0 before adjusting to the full court pressure applied by Morton Ranch.  The Spartans played good half court defense and played even with the Mavericks after the opening minutes of the game.  Marcus Moffett led Spartan scorers with 12 points, Davey Sulma had 6 points, Levi Briscoe and Greg Lee both scored 4 points, Marcus Harris, Jack Whitaker and Thomas Wimberley each contributed a basket and Matt Adair added a free throw as did Matt Martin for the Spartans.

The second round of the Katy Invitational Tournament was held at Mayde Creek High School on Friday, December 9. The Spartan Freshman team was pitted against the Fighting Bears of Hastings High School in round 2 and lost the contest 44-26. Spartan scoring was led by Taylor Nicholas who contributed 5 points, Greg Lee, Davey Sulma, Thomas Wimberley, Matt Adair and Jack Whitaker added 3 points each. Marcus Morris, Marcus Moffett, and Levi Briscoe each chipped in 2 points for the Spartans.

Round 3 of the Katy Invitational Tournament for the Spartans was held on Saturday, December 10. The 9 am game at Mayde Creek High School had the Stratford Spartan Freshman team facing the Freshman Tigers from Katy High School. In what was easily the best Spartan team effort of the season, the Stratford Freshmen emerged from the Mayde Creek gym victorious with a score of 52-30. Matt Adair led all scorers with 10 points, Marcus Harris and Matt Martin scored 6 points each, Taylor Nicholas and Mikal Pruitt each had 5 points, Greg Lee and Thomas Wimberley scored 3 points each and Kyle Mosby and Jack Whitaker both added a basket to round out the scoring for the Spartans.

The Freshman B Team used a full court press to battle back from a double digit 4th quarter deficit with a furious rally against Memorial before falling 36-34 on Tuesday.  The entire team contributed with hustle and harrassing defense.  Scoring for the Spartans were Kyle Mosby with 17 points, Marcus Harris with 9, Christian Cassady 5, Davis Smith 2 and Tony Turner with 1 point.

There was Spartan on Spartan action last Tuesday as your SHS Spartan Freshman A basketball team faced the Spartans from Seven Lakes High School on November 29 at the Seven Lakes gym.  The 5:30 pm game was taken by Seven Lakes Spartans from the opening tip with a final score of 45-19.  SHS team scoring was led by Jack Whittaker with 6 points, Levi Briscoe, Davey Sulma and Greg Lee scored 3 points each, Taylor Nicholas had two points as did Thomas Wimberley.

November 29, 2011

The Freshman B Team was defeated 50 - 15 by Seven Lakes on November 29.  Seven Lakes played strong man-to-man defense and shot incredibly well, making almost 75% of their shots, including 3 pointers and free throws.  Marcus Harris led the Stratford scoring with 10, Christian Cassady and Jacob Bradshaw added 3 and 2 points, respectively.

November 21, 2011 – November 22, 2011

A busy pre-Thanksgiving week for the SHS Spartan Freshman A basketball squad started on Monday, November 21.  The early start 5:30 pm game paired the Spartans against the Cy Ridge Rams at the Cy-Ridge gym.  Cy Ridge won a hard fought game 48-31. SHS team scorers included Matt Adair with 7 points, Mikal Pruitt banged in 6 points, Taylor Nicholas and Greg Lee each had 5 points, Marcus Moffett scored 4 points, Levi Briscoe had 2 points as did Thomas Wimberley.

On the following night, Tuesday, November 22, your Spartan Freshman A team faced the Cy Fair Bobcats at Spartan gym. A tough Bobcat squad ended up beating the Spartans 61-33. The Spartan scoring tally included Taylor Nicholas with 8 points, Davey Sulma scored 7 points, Levi Briscoe and Greg Lee each scored 4 points, Matt Martin and Marcus Moffett had 3 points each, Thomas Wimberley and Mikal Pruitt chipped in 2 points each.

November 21, 2011 – November 22, 2011

Basketball can be like life - sometimes you are the train and sometimes you are the tracks. This week the Boys Freshman Basketball B Team defeated Cypress Ridge 51-25 (Stratford was the train in this one), before falling to Cy Fair 53 - 21. Against Cy Ridge Marcus Harris scored 18 points, Cameron Haney and Austin Cepeda had 10 each, Christian Cassady 4, Kyle Mosby 3, with Jacob Bradshaw, Josh Glover and Davis Smith each scoring 2. Against Cy Fair Christian Cassady had 8 points, Marcus Harris and Kyle Mosby had 5 each, Jacob Bradshaw 2 and Nathan Scott 1. The team faces Seven Lakes on Tuesday and Strake Jesuit on Friday.

Freshman A
November 14, 2011 – November 19, 2011

The Spartan Men's Freshman A basketball squad kicked off their season on November 14th against the Bearcats of Klein High School.  SHS had a 17-16 lead at halftime but the Bearcats outscored the Spartans 19-6 in the second half to take the win with a final score of 35-23.  Spartan scorers included Taylor Nicholas with 5 points, Marcus Moffett with 4, Levi Briscoe scored 4 points, Davey Sulma, Matt Adair, Mikal Pruitt and Jack Whitaker scored 2 points each as did Thomas Wimberley.

The first round of the SBISD Freshman Invitational Tournament was held on Friday, November 18.  The 7 pm game paired our own SHS Spartan Green against SHS Spartan White at the SHS gym.  Green won the game 33-25. Green team scorers included Matt Adair and Davey Sulma with 9 points each, Kyle Mosby and Jack Whitaker scored 6 points each, Nathan Scott had 2 and Taylor Nicholas scored 1.  White team scorers included Greg Lee with 13 points, Thomas Wimberley with 5, Javeyon Daniels had 3 points and Levi Briscoe scored 2.

The second round of the SBISD tournament held on Saturday, November 19 at Spring Woods High pitted the Spartan Freshman A team against the Freshman Raiders of Northbrook High.  The 9 am game was hard fought (23 personal fouls for the Raiders versus 14 for the Spartans during the game) with the Raiders leading throughout, but your Spartans put forth a valiant effort in the 43-36 loss.  The Spartan scoring tally included Davey Sulma and Matt Adair with 7 points each, Taylor Nicholas with 5 points, Thomas Wimberley had 4 points as did Jack Whitaker, Matt Martin and Greg Lee each scored 2 points and Levi Briscoe added 1 point.

In the third round of the SBISD tournament at noon on Saturday, November 19, The Spartan Freshman A team faced the Spring Woods Tigers at their home gym.  The Spartans lit it up in the first half building a 29-20 lead.  The Tigers came back in the second half outscoring the Spartans 16-13, but it was not enough as the Spartans notched their FIRST WIN of the season with a final score of 42-36.  Spartan scorers included Marcus Moffett with 11 points followed by Mikal Pruitt with 7, Matt Adair and Jack Whitaker had 6 points each, Greg Lee had 5 points, Levi Briscoe had 4, Thomas Wimberley had 2 and Davey Sulma had 1 point.

Thanksgiving week for SHS Men's Freshman A includes a home game on Tuesday at 5:30 against Cy Fair High.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Freshman B
November 14, 2011 – November 19, 2011

The Boys Freshman B team opened the season with a 43-28 loss to Klein HS on Monday Nov 14.  The team trailed by  5 points in the fourth quarter, but Klein pulled away with several three pointers.  Scoring summary:  Austin Cepeda 8 points, Nathan Scott and Christian Cassady 6 each, Jacob Bradshaw 5 and Kyle Mosby 3.

In the first round of the SBISD Freshman Invitational Tournament on Nov 18, the Spartan Green team squared off against the Spartan White team, with the Green prevailing 33 -25.  Scoring for the Green team were Mattt Adair and Davey Sulma with 9 points each, Kyle Mosby and Jack Whitaker with 6 points each, Nathan Scott 2 and Taylor Nicholas 1.  Scoring for the White team were Greg Lee with 13 points, Thomas Wimberley 5, Javeyon Daniels 3 and Levi Briscoe 2.

In the second round of the SBISD tournament, the Freshman B team lost to Pasadena Memorial's Freshman A team.  Scoring for the Spartans were Davis Smith 7 points, Marcus Harris 4, Jacob Bradshaw 2, Nathan Scott 2 and Kyle Mosby 1.

A busy week is ahead with games Monday vs Cy Ridge and Tuesday vs Cy Fair, followed by a big battle with Thanksgiving dinners.
